SGS Code of Conduct

The code of Conduct policy is to ensure professionalism and credibility of volunteers and SGS.  All SGS members who represent SGS must present a positive image.  This included paid and non-paid staff, elected volunteers, active volunteers, appointed volunteers, certified instructors and researchers.  All SGS members, including Staff and Board members, shall be treated with respect.

26.1 SGS values:

    a) fair treatment

    b) respect

    c) credibility

    d) professionalism

     

26.2 Inappropriate volunteer behaviour would include:

    a) failure to accept and fulfill responsibilities

    b) action taken by individuals that misrepresents decisions taken by the Board of Director

    c) action by individuals that undermine existing policy

    d) action that misrepresents the organization to funders, potential funders and the general public

    e) action that undermines the priorities given by the Board to paid accountable staff

    f) action that does not represent a positive image of SGS

    g) action that does not support the goals and missions of SGS

26.3 Any member whose actions are not appropriate will be subject to discipline by SGS.  The Board of Directors has the option to censure the individual(s) involved.

26.4 Censure could include any of the following:

a) removal from office or appointment

b) revoking membership

c) publicly disavowing any association with the offending party
