The Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (SGS) Library and Research Room is the largest genealogical lending library in Canada. It is located in Room 201, 1870 Lorne Street in Regina, Saskatchewan. The library was established to serve the needs and interests of its members. Reference privileges are available to the general public; but only members of the Society may use the microfilm/microfiche collection. Those members are also able to borrow books by mail. The mail service is available only to those members who live in Canada.
The SGS Library collection consists of records and guides including microfilm, microfiche, books, periodicals, and maps of Saskatchewan, the rest of Canada, the United States, Great Britain, and Europe. One of the most useful tools in the library is the Saskatchewan Residents Index (SRI) - a database of over 2.6 million Saskatchewan residents extracted from local histories, cemetery records, and other sources. The SRI is added to continually.
